Playstation 3 release date announced

Here's the lowdown on the Nintendo "Wii": Nintendo will sell a lot of those consoles, but not as many as they did with the Gamecube. Why, you ask? Simple: the new controller design. The original playstation intoduced what is probably the most ergonomically designed controller in the history of videogames. Nearly every console that has come out since has copied it's design in one form or fashion. Now the Wii comes out with it's design, a two handed controller, which will definitely alienate some gamers.

Indeed, but two-handed or not, the Wii remote (Wiimote) will offer more control than any gamepad has ever allowed for.

Everyone knows how much controllers suck when it comes to aiming precisely. Heck, just play any FPS on a PC then go to consoles, and it's extremely obvious that PC's have a definite edge.

But with the Wii, controllers may actually DEFEAT the PC in control, because although a mouse is very precise, which is more precise?
- Moving a mouse to position a cursor on-screen
OR
- Pointing your hand at something on-screen

Think about it...

You're probably right that the Wii won't sell as much as the XBOX 360 or Playstation 3 - Nintendo hasn't beaten its competitors in console sells since back in the N64 days (Playstation whooped it), but the great thing is that Nintendo continues to figure out ways to innovate, while the rest of the competition suckers fools out of their money by showcasing impressive graphics. Basically, suckers fall for glamour, while the truly dedicated crowd seeks something new... something that could trigger a massive change in the way we play video games.

Take for example the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP.

The PSP is a more powerful handheld overall, but the Nintendo DS is simply the better handheld system. With its touch-screens, it's more capable of producing unique experiences than the been-there-done-that-got-the-T-Shirt design of the PSP.

Let's have a look at some of the other things Nintendo has pioneered:
First with controller including direction pad and A, B buttons.
First with analog implementation.
First with rumble implementation.
First with wireless controls.
First with motion and depth sensing controls...ect.

Sony and Microsoft can keep suckering in fans with Gaylo 3 and Metal Gear Liquid - I'm going to be checking out the Nintendo Wii, so that I can have a gaming experience unlike ever before.

The Wii is the only true next-generation system coming out in the near future.

Have to disagree that Nintendo was the first to incorporate analog technology. The Atari 5200 was the first to use that kind of joystick, but however, the joystick was not self centering, meaning that when you moved it, it would not return to natural center like the analog sticks of today.

That is true. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] But at the same time, Nintendo practically saved the industry when Atari almost practically crashed it!

Now, back to the PS3 pricing........

Guys, please listen to me when I say this:

Buy an XBOX 360 and buy a Nintendo Wii/Revolution when it is released later this year.

You can purchase these two systems for the price of one Playstation 3.

The Playstation 3 is simply a graphics machine with nothing great or innovative going for it at all. The motion-sensors in the PS3 controller is an idea stolen from the Nintendo Wii itself, which revolves around motion sensing with BOTH of its controllers.

The Playstation 3 is a f***** joke.

Go ahead and do that, and then go buy a Blu-Ray DVD player for your HDTV for $1000 and tell me how much money you just saved.

I don't have an HDTV, those things are mad expensive and are mostly a waste of money in my opinion.

And who actually watches DVD's on their consoles? [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] DVD players mixed in with gaming consoles is a perfect example of where the gaming industry has gone these days: Straying away from the core of gaming and trying to focus more on graphics and stupid accessories to try and get more people to purchase them. I'm sticking with Nintendo's gameplan of staying bold and true to gaming without adding stupid DVD players and other little accessories.

If you want to watch DVD's, BUY A DVD PLAYER, not a GAMING console.
